Engaging in work, free of charge, for the benefit of the local community or humanitarian organizations rendered to juvenile offenders of criminal offenses

Within the framework of the Project Justice for Every Child, a one-day workshop was held on February 11 in Sarajevo on the topic "Engaging in work, free of charge, for the benefit of the local community or humanitarian organizations rendered to juvenile offenders of criminal offenses". The workshop was held at the “Ibis Styles” Hotel with the participation of representatives of the Centers for social work, prosecutors and Institutions signatories of the Agreement on the implementation of the educational recommendation for inclusion into the work, free of charge, in humanitarian organizations or social, local or environmental activities, rendered to juvenile offenders of UG "SUMERO", NGO " Dajte nam sansu", KJU Center for social welfare for disabled persons and Others, and KJU" Gerontological Center ". The workshop was also attended by the Minister of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees.

The introductory speech was given to the professor at the Faculty of Criminology, Criminalistics and Security Studies. Elmedin Muratbegovic, who took this opportunity to greet participants and to emphasize the importance of such meetings. The lecturers at this workshop were Mirsada Poturkovic from the Center for social work of Canton Sarajevo and Selma Krslak from the Center for social work of the Municipality of Ilidza. The first part of the workshop, was held by Mirsada Poturkovic, interactively, working on concrete examples from practice, while in the second part of workshop, Selma Krslak held a presentation through which participants explained some legal obligations regarding the Centers for social work, the procedure for implementing the above mentioned educational recommendation, but also other important matters for this recommendation.

During the discussion time, participants exchanged experiences by discussing possible improvements in terms of the pronouncement and the procedure for implementing the educational recommendation, but also concluded that by joint efforts and cooperation, it is possible to significantly improve the current situation regarding these recommendations. Finally, the Minister addressed the participants, who, together with the participants, participated in all stages of the workshop. He reiterated that such meetings have an important role in the successful implementation of the Law on the protection and treatment of children and juveniles and emphasized the willingness to cooperate and each type of assistance to the institutions in the process of working with juveniles.

The activity was carried out within the project "Justice for Every Child", supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Government of Switzerland and UNICEF, and in cooperation with relevant ministries, institutions and agencies, as well as civil society organizations.
